PUBG Corp. reveals National PUBG League for North America

$1 million USD is on the line.
Sam Bishop 11 octubre 2018

PUBG Corporation has revealed a major esports venture in the form of the National PUBG League (NPL), the first professional league for the game in North America, with the 2019 season featuring no less than $1 million USD in the prize pool.

The league is being produced alongside esports broadcaster OGN, and will be held in Los Angeles, where players will have housing and travel subsidised. This competition will be part of a global competitive system and start in January, giving teams a chance to qualify for an international event at the end of the season to decide the season champion.

The format consists of three phases of 16 squads (four players), with teams playing in first-person across Erangel and Miramar. Qualification details aren't yet available, but we do know that this fits into PUBG Corporation's five-year plan for a "sustainable global esports infrastructure."

Luke Park, Head of North America Business at PUBG Corp, said: "This is the natural continuation of PUBG Corporation's five-year esports plan, bringing a consistent and enthralling competitive PUBG experience to North America. It's going to be an exciting time to be a PUBG fan, watching America's best players compete over more matches, learning, growing and strategizing to take the top prize."

What are your hopes for this league?
