Professional Hearthstone player, James "Firebat" Kostesich is retiring from Hearthstone after seven years of playing competitively in the scene. The star who rose to glory during his victory at the 2014 Hearthstone World Championship, released an official statement on Twitter regarding the retirement.
"My competitive Hearthstone career is over," said Firebat. "I want to thank everyone that supported me over the last 7 years. And the people running all the events who made it possible to compete. I never imagined it to last this long. I feel truly blessed."
After his success at the 2014 Hearthstone World Championship, Firebat had a spree of wins in the competitive scene, up until late 2015. Fans shared a lot of support for Firebat upon hearing the news, with Firebat even responding on Reddit, with a slightly further explanation to his decision.
"I just couldn't find anything that worked for me in this meta," stated Firebat. "Kept trying different things, but nothing was really clicking."
Firebat still plans to produce content, even occasionally Hearthstone related, but as for competing elsewhere, any further plans are yet to be announced.
