Popcap Games, compañía encargada de éxitos como Peggle o Bejeweled, ha difundido los resultados de una curiosa encuesta que han realizado sobre los hábitos respecto a los trucos ('cheats') en los juegos sociales.
En la encuesta contestaron más de 1.200 jugadores a preguntas sobre su comportamiento en los videojuegos. Del total, un 48% de los que admitieron hacer trampas en los juegos sociales, también aseguraron que harían trampas en la vida real.
Los juegos sociales son más populares entre las mujeres (55% frente al 45%), pero Popcap revela que los hombres son los más tramposos (54% contra 46%). El profesor Clay Routledge, del departamento de psicología de la Universidad de Dakota del Norte, asegura que "cómo nos comportamos en el espacio virtual e interactuamos con los demás en los videojuegos sociales suele reflejar cómo actuamos en el mundo real".
Además, concluyó que "con más de 100 millones de personas jugando a los juegos sociales de forma regular, podemos contemplar el rango completo de características psicológicas representado en la población de los juegos sociales, incluyendo las trampas".

-U.K. cheaters are significantly more likely to cheat on their taxes than U.S. cheaters (58% versus 33%).
-Overall 51% of people who cheat at social games report stealing towels, cups or other items from hotels (compared to just 14% of those who said they don't cheat at social games). In the UK that rises to 60%.
-51% of people who cheat at social games report parking in handicap spaces despite not being eligible (compared to only 12% of those who don't cheat in social games). In the UK, 48% of cheating respondents would take the handicapped space.
-Overall 49% of people who cheat at social games report cheating on a committed relationship. In the UK, that figure increases to 51%.
-47% of people who cheat at social games report stealing packets of sugar, butter or jam from a restaurant
43% of people who cheat at social games report stealing magazines from a waiting room.
