We just reported that market analyst Newzoo had informed us that esports organiser Gfinity has seen a growth in both revenue and audience, but that's not all that was in the Newzoo report, as it also has some very promising predictions for esports as a whole moving forward.
Global esports revenues, for example, will reach $906 million USD this year according to Newzoo, which would represent a 38.2% increase year-on-year, with North America contributing $345 million of that total, and China providing $164 million. What's more is that brands are predicted to invest $694 million in the industry, 77% of the total market, which may grow to $1.4 billion by 2021, representing 84% of total revenues.
In terms of audience, this year the total esports audience is anticipated to grow to reach 380 million in 2018 (a year-on-year growth of 13.5%), and the global annual revenue per esports enthusiast will be around $5.49, up by 20% too.
