Olympic Movement report talks positively of esports

But there are some requirements before it can get into the olympics.
Sam Bishop 2 noviembre 2017

It's been no secret that many parties have wanted to incorporate esports into the Olympic Games in some way, as just back in August we reported that Paris Olympic bid committee Tony Estaguet was open to talks about the matter, and now a recently published Communique on the Olympic website has addressed the matter too.

Representatives met for a Summit and the conclusions they reached about esports agreed that esports are showing a lot of growth, especially with youths, and can therefore provide a platform for engagement as a result.

They also concluded that it could be considered as a sporting activity, and that athletes prepare and train in a way that's comparable with those in traditional sports. "In order to be recognised by the IOC as a sport, [however], the content of "esports" must not infringe on the Olympic values," the Communique adds.

What's more is that the IOC will only recognise esports if it has an organisation guaranteeing compliance with rules and regulations, such as those for betting, anti-doping etc.

Does all of this sound fair to you?
